Quarterly Badsey Society newsletter sent to members. Events: AGM when same committee was returned except Marion Allen stepped down and replaced by Ian Gibson. Talk by Carolyn Worth about the Roman remains in Badsey and afterwards pot-washing session. Computer-Taster Session took place courtesy of Evesham Technology and eight Society members were so interested they didn’t want to leave. Virginia Pawlyn discovered ancestors in Cornwall and Jersey. There was a Talk on House History by Elizabeth Howard of the Worcestshire Record Office. Future events: Badsey First School Fete; Committee meeting to consider changes to the constitution; Badsey Flower Show; Village History Walk following the route of the 1901 census enumerator; School History Book Launch and Lecture on Civil War in Worcestershire by Malcolm Atkin. Report on visit to Geography Department at University College, Worcester where Dr. Nick Evans showed us some growers maps dating back to the 1940’s detailing the land holding pattern of growing in Badsey and names of growers. Extract from the Parish Register of 24 July 1654 stating that John Snow married Elizabeth Frost. The publication of “A History of Badsey School” will take place soon. There was to be a special event for all senior citizens aged over 65 who were former pupils of Badsey School.
