WOOD, Herbert Henry (1894-1916) - Article by Tony Wood about his uncle

Description

Tony Wood of Badsey writes about his uncle, Herbert Henry Wood (or Herbert Henry Wood Edwards, as he was also known, because he was born a few weeks before his parents' marriage), who enlisted with the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry. He was killed in action in Flanders in April 1916. Tony tells of his voyage of discovery to find out about Herbert's last days and his visit in April 2013 to Trench 28 where Herbert was based and the Menin Gate where Herbert's name is recorded.
